A WAVEGUIDE CIRCULATOR is a non-reciprocal, three‑port (or four‑port) ferrite device.
A WAVEGUIDE CIRCULATOR uses a magnetically biased ferrite element to create non‑reciprocal phase shift.
When a signal enters port 1 of a WAVEGUIDE CIRCULATOR, it exits only from port 2, not port 3.
Similarly, a WAVEGUIDE CIRCULATOR directs a signal from port 2 to port 3, and from port 3 to port 1.
Therefore, a WAVEGUIDE CIRCULATOR provides unidirectional circulation of microwave energy.
Because of this property, a WAVEGUIDE CIRCULATOR isolates input ports from output ports while maintaining low insertion loss in the forward direction.
